Let me be your guide on your chosen path to hear more of my work
My genres of choice for Charlie are Cozy Mysteries, Fantasy, LGBTQ+, Literary Fiction, LitRPG, Romance, Sci-Fi, Thrillers, YA, and Non-Fiction including memoirs, meditation, and self-help.
When the stories get a little darker or more grown-up (NSFW romance and erotica), I step into the booth as my alter-ego, Allie Rose.
I narrate a lot; more than 180 audiobooks and counting, alongside voicing video games, TV promos, commercials, documentaries, and the occasional mysterious character lurking in animation or audio drama.
My background is a bit of a patchwork quilt of English, Welsh, and Scottish roots, plus years spent living across Europe and the U.S. The upside? I’ve picked up a wide range of accents and dialects that love to sneak into my characters.
At the heart of everything I do is a passion for uplifting women’s voices and celebrating the strength women carry, no matter their circumstances. Before I ever stepped into a booth, I studied the science of people and flavour, earning a BSc (Hons) in Food Science, Consumer Psychology, and Behaviour, with a minor in Broadcast Journalism. Add in culinary arts training, and storytelling became a bit like cooking: rhythm, timing, texture, and just the right balance of spice. Every script has its own flavour, I just help bring it out.
Along the way I’ve been lucky enough to be nominated multiple times for Society of Voice Arts and Sciences Awards and ONE Voice Awards, win a Society of Voice Arts and Sciences Award and an AudioFile Earphones Award, be named one of AudioFile Magazine’s Best Voices of 2025, and receive a w3 Award for Best Voiceover in Video for work with Christian Dior.
Not bad for someone whose main job is talking to themselves in a padded room.
From my professional home studio, I’ve had the joy of working with incredible clients around the world, including Audible, BBC, Blackstone Publishing, Brilliance Audio, Disney, Dreamscape Media, GraphicAudio, HarperCollins, Podium Entertainment, Spotify, Tantor Audio, and Warner Bros..

Welcome to my audiobooks page.
I’m Charlie, a voice actor, storyteller, and professional world-builder with a microphone.
Every time you read or listen to a story, your brain doesn’t just process words it ignites. Neural pathways for language, memory, sensation, and empathy light up together, weaving connection into your biology. Story is not entertainment. It is communion at the level of the nervous system.
So, when a voice carries a story into your ears, your brain mirrors it syncing rhythms, activating imagery, awakening emotion. Neuroscience shows that listening and reading recruit overlapping meaning networks. The medium changes. The magic does not.
Stories reshape the brain. Functional imaging reveals that narrative engages the default mode network the system that helps you imagine, remember, and understand other minds. When you enter a story, you are not escaping. You are expanding.
Reading or listening to a book activates far more than language centers it engages sensory cortex, motor imagery, and the circuits of empathy. Your brain simulates what it hears. That is why a story can feel like love, loss, or longing inside your own body.
People who say audiobooks are not reading are wrong. Why? audiobooks are not passive, the brain works to construct meaning, predict emotion, and synchronize with the narrator’s cadence. In successful storytelling, neural coupling occurs your brain patterns begin to align with the storyteller’s. Connection becomes measurable.
THIS is why I love what I do!

Audiofile Reviews
"Albers's impressive skill at differentiating voices enlivens the robotic DEMETER, who is filled with anxiety; sobbing children who are trying to survive a werewolf; and the bubbly, overzealous spider drones."
Of Monsters & Mainframes - Earphones Award Winner
"The accomplished, award-winning narrator Charlie Albers portrays this budding scientist, as well as 35 other characters. She gives members of the Royal Society gruff voices and Thea's mentor and female lover a smoky, lush voice."
Observations on the Danger of Female Curiosity
"In a soothing, self-assured voice, Allie Rose portrays a headstrong duchess who struggles to clear her husband's name when he is found drenched in blood beside the murdered body of an opera singer. Rose portrays Audrey's resolution and her passion. Rose defines the characters well."
Murder at the Seven Dials
"Allie Rose's light, genteel performance is just right for the fourth novel in Cara Devlin's Bow Street Duchess series. Rose deftly handles the simmering relationship between Hugh and Audrey while heightening the tension as multiple layers of complicated sibling animosities emerge. Rose narrates all the audiobooks in this entertaining series, and she just keeps getting better."
